Abstract

Discuss about mobile telephone networks, emphasizing concepts and featuring related to WCDMA Network of 3rd Generation, besides, taking some aspects involving fast increasing in mobile sector. The behavior of consumers face the evolution cycle promoted by the industries will be discussed too. Some technical, systemic and market concepts, related to the transition from 2.5G to 3G systems are shown as evolution stage from current GSM networks to the voice and data convergence network. The first part introduce a brief description, motivation, concepts and topics related to mobile telephone networks. The second part of the job is concerned to relevant aspects which has taken UMTS to be adopted as the natural transition from GSM to 3G network. It intends to focus WCDMA networks, that is, the air interface more specifically. At last, a conclusion in order to take to the reader a evaluation result of subjects concerned to migration process, market acceptance, portfolio, services offer, trends and market evolution.
