A materialização do modelo energético brasileiro na bacia do rio Uruguai

Abstract

The present work reflects on the materialization of the Brazilian energy model in the Uruguay River basin and its consequences. It seeks to develop a balance of the construction of hydroelectric plants in this region from the seven plants already built. This text presents a systematization of the central issues that involve the construction of hydroelectric plants. These energy generation works, which were announced 30 years ago and are being built in the region, are in the service of who and for whom? What is the result for the people of the region and for the country? Also discussed are topics such as the strategic importance of hydropower and what is being discussed, the issue of energy and popular sovereignty and the issue of imperialism, the issue of development and the situation of municipalities, billing of works, financial compensation, use of public money for financing and private appropriation, consequences such as indemnification, population hit, generation of jobs and electricity tariffs. Finally, it presents the concrete balance that the plants built up to date have produced for the region and the Brazilian people.
