Uma análise qualitativa na busca por cidades humanas, inteligentes e sustentáveis

Abstract

The present work aims to conduct a qualitative analysis that initially provides an overview of Smart Cities, including how they are conceptualized and function, their models and components, and how they operate in theory and practice. An analysis of six Smart Cities around the world and in Brazil is conducted. On a global level, the cities examined are Copenhagen (Denmark), Barcelona (Spain), and London (England), while in the Brazilian context, the cities discussed are Curitiba (Paraná), Laguna (Ceará), and Rio de Janeiro (Rio de Janeiro). The work highlights their main characteristics and how these cities are evaluated within their realities to become human, intelligent, and sustainable cities for their citizens. The uniqueness of each city is demonstrated, along with its historical context, current reality, and efforts to become references. The study aims to guide potential solutions for cities and perform a qualitative analysis among them, focusing on existing points of convergence and divergence, as well as providing possible considerations regarding future projections and potential solutions that could enhance the daily lives of residents and their city administrations. In the final considerations, it becomes evident that the concepts presented in the work, the realities of the cities, and the existence of a possible ideal world may still depend on several factors, which will be studied in the research, seeking solutions that align with citizens' realities, using ICT (Information and Communications Technology) to improve quality of life. It is possible, within each exposed reality, to achieve a fair, human, intelligent, and sustainable city.
