Representação social da gravidez em mulheres primigestas assistidas no ambulatório de pré-natal da Maternidade Escola da Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro

Abstract

The present study aims to understand the social representations of First pregnancy women assisted by Maternity School to perform prenatal care. According to the literature that addresses the pregnancy phenomenon, it is described as a biopsychosocial event, which is crossed by cultural, social, economic and emotional values, bringing various modifications, in this case, in the body and in the social life of the woman. In this way, the woman can experience situations from the simplest to the most complex, which interfere both in her wellbeing and that of her baby, which can generate fears and / or anxieties, until the onset of gestational risk. It is necessary for this woman / pregnant woman to receive significant support and support from the people for her, as well as the attention and correct performance of the health team that will participate throughout the pregnancy-puerperal cycle. This is a comprehensive qualitative field research, carried out in two stages: The first stage of the research was the realization of a participative observation of the activities of collective reception of the pregnant women attended at the Maternity School with the objective of better knowing the field in question. The second stage of the research consisted in the application of an open interview, containing a triggering question with the purpose of capturing the explanations and interpretations brought by pregnant women about the pregnancy phenomenon. Participated in this research 19 (nineteen) First pregnancy. We clarify that the interview sought to map categories, such as cultural, religious, psychosocial, economic values. Thus, the proposed theme of understanding the social representations of these pregnant women, in order to better accommodate them and to attend to them in their singularities, is relevant and brings in its core the possibility and probability of this pregnancy to run in the best possible way.
