As visões ideológicas contemporâneas da reforma urbana do Prefeito Pereira Passos (1902-1906)

Abstract

The work is mainly concerned with the repercussions, in the press, of the urban transformations suffered by the central region of the city of Rio de Janeiro, then capital of the Republic, during the period of administration of the Mayor Pereira Passos (1902 -1906). The text seeks to contribute to the studies of the city of Rio de Janeiro; the city as a federal capital deserves a special prominence in the field of urban history, especially in the period of the Old Republic, between 1889 and 1930. It is important to point out that the transformations that take place reflect new socioeconomic structures. It is intended to address some aspects of public opinion manifested specifically in the press of the period.
