Mercado de trabalho e território em tempos de crise: o Brasil urbano entre 2012 e 2017

Abstract

Since 2011, Brazil has experienced an economic slowdown that culminated in a recession of eleven consecutive quarters between 2014 and 2016. This recession has strong effects on the labor market, such as the acceleration of unemployment. Still little explored is the spatial dimension of the deterioration of the labor market in the period. This article aims to analyze the spatial effects of the economic crisis on the urban labor market, comparing its metropolitan (center and periphery) and non-metropolitan segments. Data from the Continuous PNAD are used to analyze the period from 2012 to 2017, calculating the main indicators of the labor market, such as the unemployment rate, as well as the sectoral composition of jobs and the occupation position of those employed in each spatial category.
