This work analyzes the performance of distribution networks with high penetration’s level of distributed photovoltaic solar generation and energy storage systems, from the evaluation of parameters of loss level, voltage violations and charging rate of conductors and transformers. It is considered the installation of storage systems by consumers in a decentralized way, without specific voltage controls, seeking exclusively to enable consumer energy management, to make possible observing the effects and possible indirect benefits on the network in scenarios where the Distribution Network Operator (DNO) does not exercise control. For this purpose, storage systems were modeled to operate considering as reference the application of the “White” tariff (Time-of-use Energy Management) and “Binomial” tariff (Demand Management), were sized for power supply during peak hours (for “White” tariff) or sized to prevent the contracted limits being exceeded (for the “Binomial” tariff), considering, in both cases, installation of generators with unitary power factor. It was noticed, based on the results obtained, that the application of energy storage systems under the conditions proposed by the study results in indirect benefits for the network for most of the cases, with the “White” tariff being the operative strategy that presents more relevant positive results.
