Abstract

In modern industrial-urban societies the government has the relevant function of guiding the process of allocation of public resources through planning. This is due to the imperfections that occur in the market mechanisms, which alone are insufficient to meet the complex social demands. Such market imperfections are present in the urban economy, with a significant impact on the structuring of the urban space.
